PROJECT LEADER

DESCRIPTION

As a Project Leader, your primary role will be to lead a 7Summits team as we deliver social business solutions from developing the strategy and approach, information architecture/creative design, technology implementation through ongoing activation of online communities.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and Drive 7Summits project team to provide demonstrated business value in alignment with key business objectives
  • Manage expectations and day-to-day interactions with executive clients and sponsors
  • Drive the 7Summits project team to provide high quality deliverables to support benefits estimation and documentation
  • Participate in proposing new client projects; help define goals & objectives, prepare and present proposals; establish budgets and timelines
  • Mentor junior-level project management.
  • Develop deep relationships with assigned clients; understand their business, their industry, their goals and challenges. 
  • Define/communicate the overall solution we are providing to the client (the business solution - why the client is making this investment)
  • Become client’s trusted advisor while being accountable to the overall delivery of 7Summits services
  • Understand the steps required to get there and build the appropriate project plan (including resource requirements)
  • Assemble building materials and orchestrate meetings to clearly convey the project and solution direction, communicate and solicit feedback on interim deliverables (including the 'why' behind our design and recommendations) and capture/incorporate feedback as appropriate
  • Be actively involved in meetings and discussions regarding the client situation, requirements and opportunities, provide direction to the team on the value we are delivering to the client and the social business solutions we are creating, and then review deliverables to assure they align with client needs.
  • Project Leadership Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of client goals, needs and objectives, and then architect and manage a plan to meet those expectations.  Specific responsibilities associated with project leadership include:
  • Communicating a clear picture to team members of what project success looks like, and working with client leadership to build the comprehensive plan to get there
  • Applying and effectively tailoring project management concepts (e.g. waterfall, Agile) to adapt to specific client situations and effectively guide the delivery process – from strategy through user experience design to solution design, development, testing and deployment
  • Regularly communicate project status with the project team members and leadership, including key accomplishments, next steps, and items for management attention
  • Managing project scope and change control through project phases, stages and milestones
  • Effectively manage project risks and issues, tracking status and resolutions to help the project stay on course to achieve targeted outcomes
  • Prepare for and actively participate in client meetings and work sessions to understand requirements, progress and potential issues
  • Applying the appropriate project management concepts and tools (e.g. spreadsheets, Agile tools, and sprint planning processes, etc.)
  • •    Proactively maintain ongoing communication and interactions with client personnel and driving the team to achieve great outcomes for our clients and team members
  • Provide coaching to junior project team members
  • Project Administration Provide our teams and resource management leaders with necessary information to effectively manage allocation of resources to help assure the right people are working on the right activities, achieve resource utilization goals, and stay on track regarding client delivery expectations. Specific responsibilities associate with project administration include:
  • Act as a counselor and coach, provide input and guidance into the staffing process, provide leadership and support for delivery teams and staff
  • Keep resource planning and budget tracking information accurate and up to date
  • Participate in the appropriate internal project and resource planning meetings

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Must be a proven team leader with a passion for excellent project management and successful project execution; must have a demonstrated knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and philosophies
  • 5+ years as a project manager with a minimum of 5 to 7 years leading large / complex projects, within a software development or digital-minded agency environment. Ability to guide project teams, successfully apply project management knowledge and skills to achieve on-time, on-budget, on-value project outcomes
  • Knowledge and experience in leading web and social business technologies project teams; applying project management techniques in situations that involve a blend of resources from strategy through user experience design through development and deployment
  • Proven ability to keep overall business objectives and strategies in mind and maintain focus on agreed-upon objectives and goals
  • Ability to influence outcomes by building effective relationships, negotiating mutually beneficial outcomes and making decisions at the appropriate time, taking into account the needs of the situation, priorities, constraints and the availability of necessary information
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate complex, social business solution concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.  Proven ability to sell ideas and their value.
  • Excellent prioritization, organization, and time management skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Develop a comprehensive and pragmatic course of action to achieve an outcome by breaking it down into smaller steps and then planning and resourcing them appropriately
  • Check progress against targets, report as necessary and take action to resolve exceptions
  • Ability to consistently deliver projects and customer value
  • Ability to work independently and handle change and shifting work priorities
  • Project Management certification (PMP)
  • Previous supervisory/management experience, overseeing and providing mentorship to other project managers with varying levels of experience
